Mary Griffin is an artist who lives and works in Chicago, IL. She holds a BFA in Fine Art with a focus in Painting from Northern Arizona University and is a Post-Baccalaureate candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Mary creates mixed-media paintings and drawings that investigate ephemerality and intersectionality in society. Her work teeters between representational and abstract, and current series vary based upon chosen medium and subject matter. Subject matter includes intersectional identities and locations from which she has developed a relationship with through experience. Mary controls subject matter and medium to evoke meaning from a given composition by way of photography. By working from a foundation of permanence such as the photograph, Mary is able to explore ephemerality and preservation of temporality.
